This Sunday, we began Advent with a message titled “Hope for Broken Family Trees.” We looked at Matthew 1 and discovered that Jesus didn’t come from a perfect family—His family tree was full of broken people, painful stories, outsiders, and unlikely names. And that is the miracle of Christmas: whatever kind of family you come from is the kind of family Jesus came from—and exactly the kind of family Jesus came for. From Jacob’s jealous sons to Rahab’s scarlet cord, God has always brought grace out of broken branches. No matter what hurt you carry or what this year has held, there is hope in Christ. The same Savior who redeemed His own family line can redeem yours. This Christmas, hold on to the scarlet cord of His grace—because Jesus came to rewrite your story.
